Though I haven't had the opportunity to post lately, that doesn't mean little has been going on. We believe we have finally found a couple of doctors (one local and one out-of-state) that like the hard cases and will work hard to help get Mom better. We're still not sure what exactly has been going on, but she's feeling a little bit better every day with the treatment plan we have her on. She's off most of her medications now, which is good; we were worried about the dangers associated with some of those prescriptions. We're not out of the woods yet, by a long shot, though. The doctors estimate 6-9 months recovery, but at least we're looking at recovery now! We're very grateful that we have a plan to help her get back on her feet.
As part of her treatment, Mom is on a restricted diet. Basically, she can eat vegetables, non-sweet fruit (citrus), and avocados. Whole-grains and dark chocolate are okay, too. If anyone has any meal ideas, I'm sure she'd love to hear them! I think she's getting tired of tomatoes and avocado on flat bread. Thank you for all your continued support, love, and prayers.
Also, if you haven't been following the story of Eric Merkley, a teenage family friend who just had his leg amputated due to an aggressive cancer, take a look at the blog. He is truly an amazing kid; our hearts and prayers go out to him.
